Probenecid and cimetidine increase the plasma concentration of acyclovir and decreased excretion by the kidneys. Reported higher levels of plasma concentrations of acyclovir when mycophenolate mofetil ( medicine depressingly normal immune functions of the body ) was administered with aciclovir in comparison to administration of aciclovir alone . It is not necessary , however, dosage adjustment because of the wide therapeutic index of aciclovir . No significant increase in toxicity in patients receiving antiretroviral oral therapy ( Zidovudine ) for coadministration of acyclovir .
