WHAT AXETINE AND WHAT IT IS USED
AXETINE antibiotic. It belongs to the class of antibiotics known as cephalosporins. This type of antibiotics are similar to penicillins. Cefuroxime axetil kills bacteria and can be used against various types of infections.
Like all antibiotics cefuroxime axetil is only effective against some types of bacteria. Therefore, it is only suitable for treating some types of infection. Cefuroxime axetil may be used for treatment of:
ear infections (otitis media), the nose (sinusitis) and infections of the throat (pharyngitis, tonsillitis);
chest infections such as bronchitis;
infections of the bladder;
infections of the skin and subcutaneous tissue (such as furuncles, impetigo - an infection of the skin);
Lyme disease, early stage (from a tick bite) and to prevent late complications in adults and children over 12 years old.

2. BEFORE YOU TAKE AXETINE
Do not take AXETINE
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to cefuroximaxetil or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (see "Further information");
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to any other antibiotic of cephalosporin group;
if you have had a severe allergic reaction to any antibiotic of the penicillin group.
Not all people who are allergic to penicillins are also allergic to cephalosporins.
However, you should not take this medicine if you have had a severe allergic reaction to any antibiotic penicillin. This is because you may be allergic, and also to this medicine.
If you are unsure about something, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Take special care with AXETINE
If you have ever had an allergic reaction to penicillins, tell your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine;
If you have severe and persistent diarrhea while taking or after taking cefuroximaxetil - consult your doctor and do not take medicines for diarrhea that inhibit peristalsis;
If you have complaints from the belly as vomiting and diarrhea. It is possible that an insufficient amount cefuroximaxetil be absorbed by your body and your doctor can recommend cefuroxime for injection;
If you have a fever and feel ill a short time after using cefuroxime axetil for the treatment of Lyme disease (this is a symptom of a complication known as reaction Jarisch Herxheimer);

Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
In some cases, the drugs may affect the way in which other drugs. This is the case when Aksetin be used together with:
Drugs that decrease stomach acidity (medicines with acids);
Some other medicines for the prevention or control of infections (antibiotics), such as tetracyclines, macrolides, chloramphenicol, aminoglycosides;
Probenecid (a medicine used to treat gout and other diseases). Administration of this drug with Aksetin may lead to higher and persistent levels of cefuroxime in the blood and in the bile;
Tablets or injections drainage (diuretics);
Certain medicines against fungal infections (Amphotericin)
Some tests, such as tests for determining the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood or urine;
Some tests, such as tests for determining some substances in your blood (test Coombs).
Taking axetil with food and drink
Take this medicine after meals. This is because it helps the drug to be absorbed into the body.

Pregnancy and lactation
If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant! Although it is not known whether this medicine will harm an unborn child, he will be given to a pregnant woman only if really necessary;
If you are breastfeeding! This medicine should not be given to women who are breastfeeding. This is because small amounts of it pass into breast milk.

Driving and using machines

3. HOW TO APPLY AXETINE
Always take this medicine exactly as you have been told by your doctor. If you're not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The dose that your doctor has appointed depends on the type of infection and how severe the infection. Your doctor will explain this.
The tablets should be taken after meals, as it enhances absorption of cefuroxime axetil in the body.
The recommended doses are given below. However, your doctor may order a different dose of these below. If this applies to you, discuss it with your doctor if you have not already done so.

The usual doses are:
Adults and children over 12 years:
In infections of the upper respiratory tract such as tonsillitis, otitis media, sinusitis and pharyngitis: 1 tablet Aksetin 250 mg or 500 mg twice daily for 5-10 days.
Infections of the lower respiratory tract such as bronchitis and pneumonia: 1 tablet Aksetin 500 mg twice daily for 5-10 days.
In bladder infections: 125 mg or 250 mg of cefuroxime axetil twice daily for 5-10 days.
In skin infections: 1 tablet Aksetin 250 mg or 500 mg twice daily for 5-10 dnpati daily for 5-10 days.
For the treatment of Lyme disease in the early stages: 1 tablet Aksetin 500 mg twice daily for 20 days.

Children aged between 5 and 12 years:
When the conditions listed above, 125 mg or 250 mg of cefuroxime axetil twice daily for 5-10 days.
In acute otitis media: 1 tablet Aksetin 250 mg twice daily for 5-10 days.
In children under 5 years of age is recommended for use containing cefuroxime suspension.
There is no experience with the use of cefuroxime axetil in children under 3 months of age.

If you take more dose AXETINE
If you take more dose of medication, consult your doctor or go to the emergency department of the nearest hospital. Take the medicine with you in the carton, so that staff know exactly what you have taken. Overdose with Aksetin can lead to seizures.

If you forget to take AXETINE
If you miss a dose of this medicine at the right time, take it as soon as you remember. Do not take two doses to make up the missed dose.

If you stop taking AXETINE

If stop taking this medicine

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Severe allergic reactions to this medicine are very rare (affecting less than 1 in 10,000 people) or rare (affecting less than 1 in 1000 people). They may include:
(fever) fever;
joint pain;
swelling of eyelids, face or lips;
severe skin rashes that may be in the form of bubbles, and can affect the eye, mouth, throat and genitals;
loss of consciousness (fainting);
severe diarrhea or if you notice blood in diarrheal stools.

Common side effects (affecting less than 1 in 10 people) include:

Stomach problems: diarrhea, nausea and vomiting;
Skin rash with or without severe itching and lumps (hives);

Uncommon side effects (affecting less than 1 in 100 people) include:
Nervous system disorders: headache, dizziness;

This may lead to easy bleeding or injuries;
Immune system disorders: allergic reactions with fever, swollen joints, muscle pain, skin rash;
Liver and bile ducts: changes in blood tests that check how your liver is working (AST, ALT, LDH, bilirubin: temporary increase);
General: drug fever.
Very rare side effects (affecting less than 1 in 10 000 people) include:
Blood and lymphatic system disorders: anemia (a type of anemia caused by destruction of red blood cells);
Nervous system: restlessness, nervousness, confusion;
Liver and bile ducts: yellow skin or eyes (jaundice);
Skin and subcutaneous tissue: skin rash with irregular red (moist) patches (eritemamultiferme).
Certain tests for determining some substances in your blood might show different results while taking cefuroximaxetil (test Coombs).
If any of the side effects gets serious, or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

5. HOW TO STORE AXETINE
Keep out of reach of children.
Keep at temperatures below 30 ° C. Store in the original container.
Do not use the medicinal product after the expiry date stated on the carton and label. The expiry date is the last day of that month.
Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What AXETINE
The active substance is cefuroxime (cefuroxime) as cefuroxime axetil.
The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose 105, silica colloidal anhydrous, croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauryl sulfate, hydrogenated vegetable oil, hydroxypropyl.
