ALONZAP ODT is used to treat diseases in which there are symptoms such as hearing, seeing or sensing things, mistaken beliefs, unusual suspiciousness, isolation (withdrawal). People with this disease may also feel depressed, anxious or tense.

WHAT ALONZAP ODT AND WHAT IT IS USED
ALONZAP ODT belongs to a group of medicines called antipsychotics.
ALONZAP ODT is used to treat diseases in which there are symptoms such as hearing , seeing or sensing things , mistaken beliefs , unusual suspiciousness , isolation ( withdrawal ) . People with this disease may also feel depressed, anxious or tense .
ALONZAP ODT can be used to treat conditions that occur with symptoms such as elevated mood, excessive amounts of energy , needing much less sleep than usual, talking very quickly with racing one after the other ideas and sometimes severe irritability. ALONZAP ODT, also a mood stabilizer that prevents further occurrences of the disabling high and low (depressed ) extremes of mood associated with this condition .

2 . BEFORE YOU TAKE ALONZAP ODT
Do not take ALONZAP ODT:
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to olanzapine or any of the other ingredients of ALONZAP ODT. An allergic reaction may be recognized as a rash , itching, swollen face, swollen lips or shortness of breath . If this happens to you, talk to your doctor ;
If you have been diagnosed with eye problems such as certain forms of glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) .
Take special care with ALONZAP ODT
Drugs of this type may cause unusual movements mainly of the face and tongue. If this happens after you take ALONZAP ODT, tell your doctor ;
Very rarely , medicines of this type cause a combination of fever, faster breathing , sweating, muscle stiffness and drowsiness or sleepiness . If this happens , contact your doctor immediately ;
It is not recommended to ALONZAP ODT in elderly patients with dementia , as this can lead to serious side effects.
If you suffer from any of the following illnesses tell your doctor as soon as possible:
diabetes ;
Heart disease ;
Liver or kidney disease ;
Parkinson's disease;
epilepsy;
Prostate problems ;
Intestinal obstruction ( paralytic ileus ) ;
Blood disorders ;
Stroke or " mini " stroke (temporary symptoms of stroke).
If you suffer from dementia, you or the person who takes care of you / your relative should tell your doctor if you have ever had a stroke or " mini " stroke .
As a routine precaution, if you are aged over 65 , your blood pressure should be monitored by your doctor.
ALONZAP ODT is not intended for people under 18 years of age.
Taking other medicines
Take other medicines during treatment with ALONZAP ODT, if your doctor has told you that this is possible . You might feel drowsy if you take ALONZAP ODT in combination with antidepressants or medicines taken for anxiety or to help you sleep (tranquillizers ) .
You must tell your doctor if you are taking fluvoxamine ( an antidepressant ) , or ciprofloxacin (an antibiotic) , as it may need to change your dose ALONZAP ODT.
Please tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Especially tell your doctor if you are taking medicines to treat Parkinson's disease.

Taking ALONZAP ODT with food and drink
Do not drink alcohol during treatment with ALONZAP ODT, since concomitant use of ALONZAP ODT and alcohol can cause drowsiness.

Pregnancy and lactation
Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant . You should not take this medicine if you are pregnant unless you have discussed this with your doctor. You should not take this medicine when breast-feeding , as small amounts of ALONZAP ODT can pass into breast milk.

Driving and using machines
There is a risk of feeling drowsy while taking ALONZAP ODT. If this happens do not drive or operate any tools or machines. Tell your doctor.

Important information about some of the ingredients of ALONZAP ODT
Patients who can not take phenylalanine should know that ALONZAP ODT contains aspartame , a source of phenylalanine. It can be harmful for people with phenylketonuria.

3 . HOW TO TAKE ALONZAP ODT
Always take ALONZAP ODT exactly as your doctor tells you . If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Your doctor will tell you how many tablets ALONZAP ODT to take and how long to take them . The daily dose of ALONZAP ODT is between 5 and 20 mg. Consult your doctor if your symptoms return but do not stop taking ALONZAP ODT, unless your doctor advises you to do so.
You should take ALONZAP ODT once a day following the advice of your doctor. Try to take your tablets at the same time each day . Taking the tablets is independent of food intake. ALONZAP ODT, tablets orodispersible is for oral use .

ALONZAP ODT tablets break easily , so you have to handle them very carefully. Do not handle the tablets with wet hands as they may break .
1. Carefully open the box by removing the lid foil .
2 . Gently push the tablet.
3 . Put the tablet in your mouth . It will dissolve directly in your mouth and you will be able to swallow easily.

You can also place the tablet in a glass of water or orange juice, apple juice, milk or coffee and stir . In some beverages , the mixing of the tablet can result in discoloration or clouding of the liquid. Drink immediately.

If you take more dose ALONZAP ODT
Patients who received more than the required amount ALONZAP ODT experienced the following symptoms: fast heart rate , agitation / aggressiveness, problems with speech , unusual movements ( especially of the face or tongue) and reduced level of consciousness. Other symptoms may be: acute confusion, seizures (epilepsy ) , coma , a combination of fever, faster breathing, sweating , muscle stiffness and drowsiness or sleepiness, slow heart rate , aspiration, high or low blood pressure, irregular heart rhythm. Contact your doctor or just go to the nearest hospital . Show the doctor your pack of tablets.

If you forget to take ALONZAP ODT
Take your tablets as soon as you remember . Do not take two doses in one day.

If you stop taking ALONZAP ODT
Do not stop taking your tablets just because you feel better. It is important to keep taking ALONZAP ODT as long as your doctor tells you .
If you suddenly stop taking ALONZAP ODT, may experience symptoms such as sweating , insomnia, tremor, anxiety or nausea and vomiting. Your doctor may advise you to reduce the dose gradually before stopping treatment.

4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
As with all medications , ALONZAP ODT may cause side effects , although not everyone gets them.

Very common side effects: affect 1 in 10:
Weight gain ;
drowsiness;
Increases in the levels of prolactin in the blood.
Common side effects: affect 1 to 10 users in 100:
Changes in the levels of certain blood cells and circulating fats ;
Increases in the level of sugar in blood and urine ;
Increased hunger ;
dizziness ;
anxiety ;
tremor ;
Muscle stiffness or spasm (including eye movements ) ;
Speech problems ;
Unusual movement ( especially of the face or tongue) ;
constipation ;
Dry mouth ;
rash ;
Loss of strength ;
Extreme tiredness ;
Water retention leading to swelling of the hands , ankles , or feet;
At the beginning of treatment , some people may feel dizzy or faint (with a slow heart rate ), especially when getting up from a lying or sitting position. This usually resolves on its own but if it does not, tell your doctor ;
Sexual dysfunctions such as decreased libido in both men and women or in male erectile dysfunction .
Uncommon side effects: affect 1 to 10 users in 1000 :
Slow heartbeat ;
Sensitivity to sunlight ;
Urinary incontinence ;
hair loss ;
Absence or decrease in menstrual periods ;
Changes in breasts in males and females such as an abnormal production of breast milk or abnormal growth .
Other possible side effects: frequency can not be estimated from available data.
Allergic reaction ( eg swelling in the mouth and throat, itching, rash);
Diabetes or exacerbation of diabetes occasionally associated with ketoacidosis (ketones in the blood and urine) or coma ;
Reduction of the normal body temperature ;
Seizures , usually associated with a history of seizures ( epilepsy) ;
Combination of fever, faster breathing, sweating , muscle stiffness and drowsiness or sleepiness ;
Spasms of the muscle of the eye causing rolling movement of the eyes ;
Heart rhythm disorders ;
Sudden unexplained death ;
Presence of blood clots such as deep venous thrombosis of the leg or blood clots in the lung ;
Inflammation of the pancreas causing severe stomach pain, fever and malaise ;
Liver disease appearing as yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes ;
Muscle disease presenting as unexplained aches and pains ;
Difficulty in urination ;
Prolonged and / or painful erection.
While taking olanzapine , elderly patients with dementia may suffer from stroke , pneumonia, urinary incontinence, falls, extreme tiredness, visual hallucinations, a rise in body temperature, redness of the skin and have trouble walking . In this particular group of patients has been reported for several fatalities .
In patients with Parkinson's disease ALONZAP ODT can lead to worsening of symptoms .
Rarely women taking medicines of this type for a long period of time have started to secrete milk and have missed periods or irregular periods. If this continues, contact your doctor. Very rarely babies born to mothers who received ALONZAP ODT in late pregnancy ( third trimester ) may have tremors or drowsiness.
Rarely can be observed seizures. In most cases there is evidence of spent before seizures ( epilepsy) .

If any of the side effects gets serious , or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet , please tell your doctor.

5 . HOW TO STORE ALONZAP ODT
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use ALONZAP ODT after the expiry date stated on the carton.
ALONZAP ODT should be stored in its original packaging to protect from light and moisture.
Please return left over medicine to your pharmacist. Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required . These measures will help to protect the environment.

What does ALONZAP ODT
The active ingredient is olanzapine . Each orodispersible tablet ALONZAP ODT contains 5 mg or 10 mg of active substance . The exact amount is shown on the packaging of your ALONZAP ODT.
Other ingredients are: calcium carbonate DC CS90, lactose monohydrate, crospovidone ( type A), aspartame, magnesium stearate.

Looks like ALONZAP ODT and contents of the pack
ALONZAP ODT 5 mg are yellow to pale yellow, round , biconvex, orodispersible tablets imprinted with " 5" on one side of the tablet .

ALONZAP ODT 10 mg tablets are yellow to pale yellow, round , biconvex, orodispersible tablets with a die " 10 " on one side of the tablet .

Orodispersible tablet in the mouth is the technical name of the tablet which was taken directly into the mouth , so that it can be easily swallowed .
